Squadron Visit to HMS Ocean
While the military provided defence and deterrence for the Olympics, the Squadron took the opportunity to visit HMS Ocean while she was moored in the Thames at Greenwich.
Hosted by various sections of the ship, cadets and staff were able to take the ship’s boat to see what life was like defending London.
Tours of the main decks offered an opportunity to see some of the fast response Navy units, the Army helicopters and RAF Regiment personnel aboard who were providing the interlinked air defence. Cadets were also offered the chance to take a tour of the bridge, and see how the ship was navigated, commanded and fought. Thanks to all of the Royal Navy crew and personnel for their support of our visit.
