On the warm summer evening of Armed Forces Day 2015, the Squadron gathered to mark the presentation of awards and classifications. As ever, the celebration of what we have achieved was impressive in standards.
For one new recruit, the parade marked his formal enrolment in to the 1921 family. In front of a proud family, we welcomed Cdt Mohamed to the unit, and presented him with his 3822 to mark the beginning of his cadet career.
He now joins the Squadron’s First Class training programme; and Peter Ramrayka and Mike Saunders of the RAFA City & Central Branch were on hand to present First Class badges to those cadets who have just completed that training programme.
A total of nine new First Class cadets graduated the scheme, under the very successful guidance of Cpl Aleah Baptiste.
At the top of the classification programme, we were delighted to recognise Cdt Calvin Klobodu and Cornelius Dwommoh for their achievements in earning their Master Air Cadet badges. This marks the highest possible achievement for an Air Cadet, and they now begin the process of learning how to teach and train as they become Instructor Cadets.
Finally, the parade marked a well-deserved promotion to Flight Sergeant for Dominic Paul. Throughout the summer and the recent round of drill and ceremonial activities, he has been an ever-present, ever-positive leader of cadets – and he was presented with his new tapes by his banner party escorts and the Sqn Officer Commanding.
Congratulations to all our cadets on their achievements and their turnout – more photos can be found in our gallery.
